HEY THERE and WELCOME!
My name is Lauren and I am a 31-year-old certified public accountant that relocated to San Francisco from Virginia Beach. I work for the public accounting firm, KPMG, and have spent about ten wonderful years building my career there.
“As a country and as a world, we are not comfortable with women in leadership. We call little girls bossy.”
-Sheryl Sandberg
From a young age, I was described as bossy and it was always treated as such a negative thing. As I grew up, I learned that being “bossy” isn’t a bad thing, it’s a glimpse of the leadership skills that many little girls have when they are younger, but are encouraged to tone it down. With time, I’ve learned to embrace my “bossiness” to start to develop myself as leader and I hope that it will lead me through a long, successful career.
On almost any given day, the perfect day for me would be either 1) laying out on a beach with a book or 2) laying in bed with my kitties watching tv. My other hobbies include eating all the damn time, online shopping (but only keeping about 10% of what I buy), crafting every once in a while, spending hours lost in the comments of strangers on facebook, hoarding glitter, buying make-up that I’ll never possibly be able to use and taking selfies with cats (sometimes dressed as a cat).
I am the proud cat mom of the cutest two kitties in the world and love them to death no matter how annoying they are at 4:00 am.
My all-time favorite thing to do (as stressful as the actual process can be) is traveling. I want to travel the world and I have started crossing places off my bucket list. I wouldn’t call myself a risk-taker, but put me on vacation and I’m willing to try a lot of things I wouldn’t do otherwise. I’ve traveled to four continents to date and only have two left since I hate the cold and I never plan on visiting Antarctica, but I have more countries than I can even count left to go in my lifetime. My adventures include a solo trip to Australia and New Zealand and another solo trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand, and both were some of the greatest experiences of my life.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy!
