Homemade Acai Smoothie Bowl

During my travels, I started ordering smoothie bowls and I am now obsessed. The only problem is that they are so darn expensive! I saw a friend post a picture of one that she made at home, so I decided that I was going to give it a try myself.

It took me a couple of tries to get the smoothie base to the right consistency, but I have included the tip that has helped me below! This recipe is super easy and you can make it just a few minutes.

You only need a few ingredients, but the acai base is pretty expensive for buying from the grocery store (still cheaper than buying smoothie bowls from a restaurant though!). You can find the Sambazon brand acai berry smoothie base in the frozen section with the other fruit. You can customize and make with whichever fruits that you prefer, but I’ve included my suggestions below.

Ingredients:

Smoothie Base:

  • 2 Sambazon Acai berry superfruit packs
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries

Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 2 tbsp granola
  • dash shredded coconut
  • honey (optional)

Blend all of the smoothie base ingredients in a blender. I recommend using frozen fruit to keep the base to the thickest consistency. It may require some stirring as you blend to ensure it is fully blended.

Top with your favorite fruits, granola, and coconut and enjoy! I’ve included my recommendations in this recipe!
